Mail Services is committed to moving mail expeditiously and keeping the university community informed of the best and least expensive methods of moving various types of mail, which requires a thorough knowledge of US Postal Service regulations, rates, services, and operations. Bulk Mail

  • Expedited: US Overnight Mail
  • First-Class Mail: Consisting of handwritten and typewritten messages, bills and statements of account, postcards, cancelled and uncancelled checks, and business reply mail.
  • Standard: Consisting of circular, booklets, catalogs, and other printed materials not otherwise required as first class mail, merchandise, farm and factory products, photographs, keys and printed drawings, parcel post and library materials. The rates for each class and the types of movement vary considerably. University Mail Services staff members have been trained to advise customers in selecting the most expeditious and economical method of moving mail. Call 865-974-6462 for assistance.
  • Media Mail: Generally used for books (at least eight pages), film, printed music, printed test materials, sound recordings, play scripts, printed education charts, loose-leaf pages and binders consisting of medical information, and computer-readable media.
  • Library Mail: Used by qualifying institutions like libraries, universities, zoos, and research institutions to mail educational and research material.

UPS Package Preparation

Packages can be sent by UPS through University Mail Services. Packages are automatically insured for $100 each. When filling out the “Instruction to Mail Room” form be sure to note the amount of insurance needed and also record the address on the back of the form. Mail Pickup and Delivery

University Mail Services has five routes, each consisting of a morning and evening delivery. Six drop boxes have been placed on campus. Collections are made from these boxes between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. These mail boxes are located in:

  • Communications Building
  • Andy Holt Tower
  • McClung Tower
  • Perkins Hall
  • Stokely Management Center

A drop box for on-campus business mail only is located on the first-floor level of the University Center with pickup scheduled at 9:00 a.m.

Mail Statement Retrieval

University Mail Services has purchased new postage machines and accounting system to become compliant with digital metering required by the US Postal Service. Instructions

New instructions to access monthly mail charges:

  1. YOU MUST USE INTERNET EXPLORER
  2. Click here to gain access
  3. Log in with the Username/Password emailed to you from Mail Services
  4. Click on “Custom Reports” in the menu on the left of the screen
  5. In the submenu under “Custom Reports”, click “Postage by Account”
  6. In the submenu under “Postage by Account”, click “Postage by Account”
  7. Enter your search criteria
  8. Be sure to select ENDDATE from the “Search Date Field” dropdown
  9. Enter a Start Date & End Date
  10. Click “View” or “Export”

  • Open a web browser and enter <IP address of your wireless route> (the default IP for most Belkin routers is 192.168.2.1) and press Enter. Click Login button to open the login screen. When the login window appears, enter a password.
  • Select Wireless -> MAC Address Control from the menu on the left.
  • If Allow radio button is enabled proceed to the next step, otherwise, close the web browser window.
  • In the MAC Address field that is blank, type in the MAC address of the wireless computer you want to be able to access the wireless network, then click Add. To find the MAC address on a computer, refer to the How to find MAC address page.
  • Click Apply Changes.

  • Open a web browser and enter http://<IP address of your wireless router> (the default IP for mostD-Link routers is 192.168.0.1) and press Enter. When the login window appears, select Admin from the drop-down menu and then enter your password. Type in the graphical authentication code (if you cannot read it, click Regenerate).
  • Click on Advanced and then click MAC Address Filter.
  • Verify Configure MAC Filtering below setting. If it is set to Turn MAC Filtering On and ALLOW computers listed to access the network proceed to the next step, otherwise, close the web browser window.
  • Enter the MAC address of your computer into the MAC address field and click Add. To find the MAC address on a computer, refer to the How to find MAC address page.
  • Click Save Settings.

  • Open a web browser and enter http://<IP address of your wireless router> (the default IP for most D-Link routers is 192.168.0.1) and press Enter. When the login window appears, Select Admin from the drop-down menu and then enter your password. For WBR-2310 - enter the user name and your password.
  • Click on Advanced and then click Network Filter.
  • Verify Configure MAC Filtering below setting. If it is set to Turn MAC Filtering On and ALLOW computers listed to access the network proceed to the next step, otherwise, close the web browser window.
  • Enter the MAC address of your computer into the first empty MAC Address field or the first MAC Address field containing all zeroes (00:00:00:00:00:00 or 00-00-00-00-00-00). To find the MAC address on a computer, refer to the How to find MAC address page.
  • Click Save Settings.
